Thanks to the victory in the most important category – Beach of the Year 2025 – Świnoujście once again confirmed its leading position among Polish seaside resorts.
The beach in Świnoujście is not only the most awarded bathing site in Poland, but also one of the most picturesque spots on the Baltic Sea. Its length within the city limits exceeds 10 kilometers, and at its widest points, it reaches up to 200 meters. Moreover, thanks to natural coastal processes and the action of sea waves, the beach grows by approximately 7.5 meters each year, a phenomenon unique in the country.
This vast expanse allows up to 400,000 people to relax here at once, yet the beach still maintains a sense of space and comfort. Clean, light sand, a gentle slope into the sea, and excellent water quality are other features that make Świnoujście an ideal destination for everyone – from families with children to lovers of walks and water sports.
The history of Świnoujście Beach dates back to the early 19th century, when the town began to develop as a health resort. In 1824, it gained seaside resort status, and two years later, in 1826, the first Spa House was built, becoming the center of social and cultural life for visitors.
In the 19th century, the beach was divided into three zones: men's, women's, and family, reflecting contemporary social norms. Each zone had its own swimming areas and changing rooms, and the area was fenced. It wasn't until the 1930s that this division was abandoned, creating a common area for everyone.
The first wooden promenade pier was also built during this period, along with numerous cafés, restaurants, and entertainment venues. Over the years, Świnoujście became one of the most important resorts in Europe, visited by visitors from Germany, Scandinavia, and all over Poland.
Today, the symbol of the beach and the entire Świnoujście is the distinctive windmill – Stawa Młyny, standing at the edge of the breakwater at the entrance to the port. It is the most recognizable landmark in the city and one of the most frequently photographed landmarks on the Baltic Sea.
Additionally, the beach in Świnoujście has been receiving the prestigious international "Blue Flag" award for 18 years, awarded to bathing areas that meet the highest standards of cleanliness, safety and ecology.
Winning the Travelist.pl 2025 poll confirms that Świnoujście Beach is not only the most beautiful, but also the most well-maintained and modern swimming area in Poland. It boasts excellent natural conditions, a rich history, and constant development.
