The European Bison Demonstration Center, located in the heart of Wolin National Park, is a place of exceptional importance both for its natural environment and its breeding activities, and has been operating since 1976. The primary goal of this institution is to revive the bison population, a species facing extinction. The center plays a key role in the protection of these majestic mammals and promotes their conservation breeding.
At the enclosure, the animals are meticulously registered in the European Bison Pedigree Book, which allows for precise monitoring of their genotypes and health. Environmental education is another important aspect of this facility's activities – visitors have the opportunity to learn about the lives of lowland bison in semi-natural conditions. Regularly organized shows and educational trails allow them to discover the fascinating behavior and ecology of these mighty animals.
The enclosure also serves as a significant tourist attraction, attracting nature lovers and families eager to explore the local fauna. Observing bison in their natural habitat is an unforgettable experience that further raises awareness of nature conservation and the importance of preserving biodiversity.
The European Bison Exhibition Center is located on the picturesque Wolin Island, within Wolin National Park. It's the perfect place to admire wildlife. The enclosure covers approximately 28 hectares, 20 hectares of which are dedicated to the majestic European bison. An additional 0.5 hectare is a display enclosure, where visitors can observe these impressive mammals up close.
